Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address and password when you create an account
- Report purchase information: Name, email, available capital, location, professional background, and primary concerns when ordering a report. You may also optionally provide your phone number, net worth, investment timeline, and funding source
- Lead inquiry information: Name, email, phone number, available capital, net worth, investment timeline, funding source, location, and message when requesting franchise information or using our franchise-matching tools. This data may be shared with the relevant franchisor
- Payment information: Payment details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details on our servers
Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics data: If you consent to analytics cookies, we collect usage data (pages visited, time on site) via Google Analytics
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and screen resolution
- IP address: Used for security purposes and general geographic analytics
We use your information to:
- Process your purchases and deliver personalized franchise analysis reports
- Manage your account and provide access to purchased reports
- Share your contact information and buyer-qualification data with franchise development teams, franchise sales organizations, and related third parties for marketing purposes — see Section 6 (Data Sharing) and Section 7 of our Terms of Service for full details
- Send transactional emails (purchase confirmations, report delivery, account notifications, and — for franchisors — lead alerts)
- Send marketing, newsletter, and educational emails about franchise opportunities, tips, and product updates — you can manage these in your account settings or unsubscribe from any such email at any time
- With your consent, contact you by phone call or text message about franchise opportunities (see "Phone Calls & Text Messages" below)
- Improve our website, reports, and services
- Detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized access
- Comply with legal obligations
Notice regarding the sale or sharing of personal information: Under certain US state privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and similar laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah), our sharing of your contact and qualification data with franchise development teams in exchange for compensation may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You have the right to opt out — see Section 9 (Your Rights) below.
Phone Calls & Text Messages
We only ask for your phone number as an optional field. If you provide it and check the consent box, you agree that VetMyFranchise and the matched franchise development teams may contact you by phone call and/or text message (SMS) about franchise opportunities, including via automated dialing or messaging technology. This consent is not a condition of purchasing any product or using our tools — you can use everything without providing a phone number or agreeing to be called. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can withdraw consent or opt out of calls by emailing hello@vetmyfranchise.com. We do not share your phone number with franchise development teams unless you have given this consent.
We use the following third-party services that may process your information:
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe collects and processes your payment information under their own Privacy Policy. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified
- Google Analytics: Website usage analytics, loaded only after you consent via our cookie banner. See Google's Privacy Policy
- Resend: Transactional email delivery for order confirmations, report delivery, and account notifications
- Anthropic (Claude AI): AI-powered analysis of franchise disclosure documents to generate reports. We send franchise FDD text and, for personalized sections of paid reports, the buyer-provided context you submit at checkout (available capital, location, professional background, and primary concerns). Anthropic processes this data per their Privacy Policy and does not use API inputs to train their models
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies.
International Data Transfers
Several of our service providers (Stripe, Google Analytics, Anthropic, Resend) are located in the United States. If you access our services from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, your information may be transferred outside of your jurisdiction. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards under applicable data protection law.
When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can choose to accept or decline analytics cookies.
- Essential storage: We use browser session storage to maintain your authentication state (via a secure token). This is necessary for the website to function
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics cookies are loaded only if you click "Accept" on our cookie consent banner. These help us understand how visitors use our site. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage
- Anonymous server-side metrics: We maintain aggregate counts of franchise page visits, side-by-side comparisons, and report purchases for product analytics. These records contain only the franchise identifier and a timestamp — no IP address, user identifier, cookie, or session data is stored alongside them
We do not use advertising, retargeting, or tracking cookies.
Your personal data may be shared in the following circumstances:
- Franchise development teams (report purchasers and lead submitters): When you purchase any report, request information about a franchise, or otherwise submit your contact information through our website, your name, email address, available capital range, net worth, investment timeline, funding source, target location, professional background, and the specific franchise concept(s) you researched may be shared with franchise development teams, franchise sales organizations, franchise brokers, and related third parties. Your phone number is shared only if you provided it and consented to phone/text contact (see "Phone Calls & Text Messages" in Section 3). This sharing may include both (a) the franchise development team for the specific franchise you researched, and (b) franchise development teams for competing or related concepts that match your buyer profile. VetMyFranchise may receive payment from these third parties in exchange for this information. By using our services, you consent to this sharing. See Section 7 of our Terms of Service for full details and how to opt out
- Service providers: With our third-party service providers (listed above) as necessary to operate our services
- Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process
Your "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" right: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another US state that recognizes a right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, you may exercise that right by emailing hello@vetmyfranchise.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Information." We will honor your request within 15 business days and will not share your information with franchise development teams thereafter. Note that opting out does not require third parties who have already received your information to delete or stop using it.
We retain your account information and purchase history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you access to your purchased reports. Lead inquiry data is retained for up to 12 months unless deleted sooner. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information and anonymize order records within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal or compliance purposes.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
- Authentication uses secure JWT tokens stored in session storage
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 certified)
- Database access is restricted to our application servers
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you — use the "Export My Data" button in your account settings
- Correct inaccurate personal information — contact us at the email below
- Delete your account and personal information — use the "Delete My Account" button in your account settings or contact us
- Export your data in a portable format (JSON) — available in your account settings
- Manage email preferences — turn newsletter, product, and promotional emails on or off in your account settings, or unsubscribe via the link in any marketing email
- Opt out of phone calls and texts — reply STOP to any text message, or email us to withdraw phone/text consent
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or declining cookies on your next visit
To exercise any of these rights, you can use the self-service options in your account or contact us at the email address below. We will respond to data requests within 30 days.
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
